Gary Kaminsky Recommends OZM
Gary Kaminsky spoke on CNBC's Fast Money about Och-Ziff Capital Management Group LLC (NYSE: OZM). He remembers this asset management company, managed by Dan Och, from his days in Neuberger Bergman. At the time, Lehman Brothers and Goldman Sachs took public Och-Ziff (OZM) and the stock fell from its initial price of $30 to $6. Shortly after that OZM rebounded to $15.
Kaminsky likes the fact that employees own the most of the stocks of Och-Ziff (OZM) and adds that when these guys go to work their dividend distribution goes to their pockets and they are being compensated in this way just like you as a shareholder.
The host, Melissa Lee, asked him why the current situation is different from the situation when OZM became public. Strategic insiders owned the stocks at $30 and it collapsed. Why would their judgment be better now? Kaminsky answered that the company is much stronger now and there are many more mergers and acquisitions. He added that if you believe that the private equity, IPO market and equity market are back, OZM is a great leveraged way to play it, with a management team that is aligned with you.
