Current Account Surplus

Japan's current-account surplus shrank in May, according to the Finance Ministry. The country's surplus narrowed to 540.7 billion yen ($5.33 billion), versus ¥750 billion in April. Japan's exports climbed 9.1% y/y, while imports rose 9.6%. However, economists were expecting a ¥595 billion surplus.

The euro zone reported a current account surplus of EUR0.5 billion in September. The euro zone swung to a current account surplus in September, versus an upwardly revised deficit of EUR5.9 billion in August.
